Coroner confirms croc killed girl
An Australian coroner has confirmed that an 11-year-old girl who disappeared under water while swimming with her friends in a Northern Territory waterhole last year was taken by a crocodile.
Coroner Greg Cavanagh said there was evidence that a saltwater crocodile about 10.5-feet long killed Briony Goodsell last March, though the reptile was not found.
The girl's death prompted the government to change its crocodile management plan -- increasing culls of eggs and grown reptiles -- and launch a public education campaign.
Mr Cavanagh said residents of northern Australia must face the reality that man-eating crocodiles live among them, and recommended increased attention to public safety.
