Joe Biden arrives in the UK for G7 summit
The US President and First Lady, Jill Biden, stepped out of Air Force One shortly before 11.45pm on Wednesday. The couple were greeted on the runway of the Cornwall Airport Newquay by a guard of honour.
PA reports the couple got into a dark Chevrolet and left the airport around 11.52pm.
The couple are expected to remain overnight in St Ives.
Earlier today, the US president disembarked from Air Force One in Suffolk, marking Mr Biden’s first international trip since taking office.
In a speech to US Air Force personnel and their families at RAF Mildenhall, he honoured the UK-US alliance as founding members of NATO and as strategic partners, although accidentally referred to the Royal Air Force as the RFA.
He said: “These partnerships have been hardened in the fire of war.
“Generations of Americans and service members fought them.
“Like the original Bloody Hundredth, and those RFA pilots.”
He added that the two nations were “the strongest military and political alliance in the history of the world."

“Now we need to modernise our alliance, investing in our critical infrastructure, our cyber capabilities and to keep us secure against every threat we’ve faced over the last decade, and the new challenges we are about to face as well," Mr Biden added.
Mr Biden is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister on Thursday and is also set to meet the Queen shortly before flying to Brussels to attend a NATO and EU summit.
After Brussels, the US president is set to meet Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, in Geneva for talks on a variety of topics including election interference, cyber attacks and the Covid-19 pandemic.
The leaders are set to hold the meeting on June 16 in a Swiss villa overlooking Lake Geneva and diplomatic sources expect to confirm the venue by Thursday.
