Obamas spark fury over Netflix sketch comedy series mocking Trump
BARACK and Michelle Obama have sparked fury over a new Netflix comedy series loosely based on an anti-Trump book.
US Election: Obama says voters ‘deserve better’ than Trump
According to reports, Michael Lewis’ book The Fifth Risk portrays the chaos which reportedly erupted after the Donald Trump won the 2016 US election. The former president and First Lady acquired the rights to the book in 2018.
But now, Netflix is set to create a sketch comedy series, The G Word, loosely based on the book.
Comedian Adam Conover confirmed the new comedy series, which will be produced by the Obamas company Higher Ground Productions.
He wrote: “Very happy to finally be able to share this news: I'm creating a new comedy series for Netflix about the federal government.
“It's called The G Word, and I can't wait to share it with you.
“This confirms what many of you have probably already guessed: Adam Ruins Everything's season finale was also our series finale.
“I’m so proud of what our team accomplished on ARE, but it was time to take on a new challenge and prove we could tell even bigger stories.
“Thanks to @trutv for taking a chance on me, but most of all, thanks to our amazing team.
“ARE is the show it is because hundreds of writers, researchers, directors, DPs, PAs, & more put their creative all into it.

“It was the privilege of my life to be carried atop their shoulders.”
However, news of the new anti-Trump series has been met with criticism online with many saying having a former president working on a show about the government is a “major bias”.
One person wrote: “Wouldn’t working with a former Presidents foundation to talk about the government be like… a major bias?
“Especially considering he’s still active within his party.”

Another person echoed: “How can teaming with an ex president allow you to pull back that curtain without bias?”
Someone else simply said: “You lost me at Obama.”
Other Twitter users said if the series goes ahead they will cancel their Netflix subscriptions.
Someone wrote: “How is this in any way unbiased?
“Thought you were better than this…”
Someone else said the series is another example of “how classless the Democrats are”.
They said: “The office of the president regardless of his party should always act with respect to the office he left or one that is being filled.
“Just another example of how classless the Democrats are.
“Hope you lose your ass on this project!”
This news comes just weeks after Mr Trump lost the US election to Democrat Joe Biden according to projected outcomes.
The Electoral College is expected to confirm Mr Biden’s win after voting on December 14.
However, the outgoing President has continued to claim voter fraud and has yet to congratulate Mr Biden on his win.
