Matador gets the point of a fair fight
IT'S NOT so much “ole” as “Velcr-ole” as America’s latest craze pulls in the crowds at the Toros Las Vegas exhibition.
Famed for its casinos and cabaret acts, the desert city with the Spanish name is the setting for bullfights with a difference this weekend.
Rather than hurt the fighting bull with sharp bandilleras, top Spanish matador Javier Conde tries to aim brightly coloured, Velcro-tipped javelins at a pad attached to the animal’s back.
But while the matador goes to great lengths not to harm the bull, that doesn’t stop the half-ton beast from doing its best to harm him by using its horns to toss Conde high in the air.
