A TURKISH Airlines flight from Tehran to Istanbul has been diverted to Ankara over coronavirus fears.

A Turkish Airlines flight, which was scheduled to land in Istanbul this morning, has been diverted to Ankara over fears of the deadly coronavirus. Iran has contracted the most cases of coronavirus in the Middle East, with 15 people having been killed in the country. The flight from Tehran was carrying Turkish people home after Ankara closed its border with Iran due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Turkish sources suggest 132 passengers are on board the plane and one passenger is believed to be a carrier of Coronavirus.
The plane will be diverted on landing.
This comes after Turkish Airlines suspended some of its flights to Iran, as they desperately try to contain the coronavirus.
On Tuesday, the death toll from coronavirus in Iran rose to 16.
Turkish Airlines has said it has cancelled flights to Iranian cities, apart from Tehran, until March 10.
Turkey has temporarily closed its land borders and train services with the Islamic republic.

The head of Iran’s counter coronavirus team has tested positive for the virus.
The United Arab Emirates has banned all flights to and from Iran over the outbreak of the coronavirus.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani tried to reassure the nation in a speech on Tuesday, calling the new coronavirus an "uninvited and inauspicious passenger.”

He said: “We will get through corona.
"We will get through the virus.”
The coronavirus has spread to more than 30 other countries across the world with the World Health Organisation declaring an international health emergency.
