A BRAVE elephant takes her first nervous steps on an artificial leg 10 years after losing her foot to a landmine.
Motola padded out of her enclosure at an elephant hospital in Thailand, grabbed some dust with her trunk and jubilantly sprayed it in the air.
The 48-year-old was injured while working at a logging camp near the Myanmar border, a region littered with mines after half a century of insurgency.
Soraida Salwala, of Friends of the Asian Elephant, said: “It has gone very well.”
