Facebook EVACUATE California campus over BOMB THREAT - 'AVOID THE AREA!’
POLICE are investigating a bomb threat at Facebook's Menlo Park Campus in California.
Menlo Park police received an anonymous tip about a bomb threat at 4.32pm local time. The department issued an alert shortly after 5pm. They told the public to avoid the area around the 200 block of Jefferson Drive in Menlo Park as officers investigate a bomb threat.
Bomb squads from allied agencies across San Mateo County are on the scene.
They are currently vetting the building.
A helicopter is circulating and several police cars are on the campus.
Both Facebook and Instagram have corporate offices at 200 Jefferson Drive.
Menlo Park police said in a statement: “Avoid the area of the 200 block of Jefferson Drive in Menlo Park.
“Police are investigating a bomb threat.
“No further details are available.”
Facebook have confirmed its buildings had been evacuated but everyone was safe.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad searched 200 Jefferson Drive with specially trained dogs and found no suspicious packages or devices.
Shortly before 8pm police issued an advisory that the building was clear and secure.
