Russia prepares for war in pictures: Extraordinary scenes of Russian troops in action
RUSSIA’S war games continue as Russian troops were ordered for snap military drills to exercise tactical and strategic warfare.
Extraordinary scenes showcased Russia’s finest military in action with the 4th army of the Russian Air Force and Air Defence, and the Russian Navy Black Sea Fleet all displaying their power off the Black Sea coast.
Over two thousand servicemen and 400 pieces of military hardware from both the Russian and South Ossetian divisions took part in the drills.
Attack helicopter Kamov Ka-52 Alligator and Russian Navy's Nikolay Filchenkov giant landing ship was seen demonstrating their abilities.
The Ka-52 Alligator is a next-generation reconnaissance and combat helicopter designed to destroy tanks, armoured and non-armoured ground targets, and enemy troops and helicopters both on the front line and in tactical reserves.
One picture shows a serviceman armed with a Igla portable surface-to-air missile, which is highly sophisticated and efficient in countering air threats.
Other pictures reveal armed troops improving their strategic skills out on the field as well as a field hospital in action with troops acting as patients.
Artillery and UAV crews, which determin the location of the simulated enemy and transferred data to artillerymen for the destruction of the training targets, also took part in the mock combat.
During the drills, Russian troops practiced tactical, special and technical skills, alongside driving modern military equipment, shooting and fire control.
