Workers at the Peru petrol station are also filmed standing outside when the outlandish creature appears.

Startled, the men start walking towards the illuminated figure they later said was less than a meter high.

It was also said to have had several "legs", but appeared to be floating around outside the building.

According to the workers, the supernatural being vanished after being hit by a lorry as it hovered by the street.

The footage, which was filmed on August 22 at 3.30am, has now been handed over to the Peruvian Association of Ufology.

Dr Anthony Choy said: "According to preliminary data and to the testimony of the witnesses, a strange creature or robot less than a meter high, with several legs… faced a group of 10 workers."

Online users have however questioned if the footage is real or not.

One user said: "I think it will be another unsolved case since there is no solid evidence."

While another wrote: "There are true realities out there that are strange to us and seems supernatural.

"And we do want to know more about them.

"To do that, we must be critical and put to the test whatever or whoever is put before us."
