The monster 135 STONE pumpkin grown in time for Halloween
AT 135 stone, this prize-winning pumpkin could well end up as the world's biggest jack-o-lantern.
The mammoth squash, grown by American Hiram Watson, stole first prize at the annual New England Giant Pumpkin Contest in the US, weighing in at exactly 1,900lbs.
Hiram, from Farmington, New Hampshire, saw his pumpkin smash the competition, outweighing the runner up by 149 pounds (10.7 stone).
The proud owner will be awarded $5,000 (£3,100) for his feat.
You just never know what will happen again until the final pumpkin in the contest is weighed
But sadly Hiram fell short of trumping the Guinness World Record.
According to their website, the current record belongs to Ron Wallace and his 143 stone (2,009 pounds) pumpkin, grown in 2012.
The New England Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off began at Topsfield Fair in 1984.
General manager of the fair, James O'Brien, said: "The Giant Pumpkin Contest is always a fun and exciting way to kick-off the fair.”
The tense weigh off took place on October 3, but the fair will run until October 13.
"Two years ago we had a world record-breaker and as the weights kept going up tonight, many thought we might do it again. You just never know what will happen again until the final pumpkin in the contest is weighed.
"Mr. Watson should be very proud of his accomplishment.
"A few years ago David Letterman bought one of the Giant Pumpkins to drop off the side of a building in New York City for a segment on his show."
