A pleasing smell is the key to attractiveness, say researchers
SPRAYING on perfume does not just make women smell good... it makes them look better too.
A sexy scent boosts attractiveness because it influences our perception of facial features, a study in the US has found.
Female faces were ranked as prettier in the presence of a pleasant odour of rose oil compared with an unpleasant fish oil smell.
The findings, published in the journal PLOS ONE, suggest fragrances alter how people see one another.
Neuroscientist Dr Janina Seubert, of the Monell Chemical Senses Centre in Philadelphia, said: “This may indicate a common site of neural processing in the brain.”
