Sales of English flag soar ahead of St George's Day
SALES of the English flag have soared to record levels this year.
The Cross of St George is being snapped up to celebrate England’s patron saint’s day on Friday.
Patriotic World Cup fans have also been buying up the red and white flag ahead of England matches in South Africa in June.
Nick Peek, from retailer Peeks in Christchurch, Dorset, yesterday said: “We have quadrupled sales of St George’s products this year.
“From St George’s Day to the end of the World Cup the whole country will be decked out in red and white.”
The firm is also doing a roaring trade in sending flags, hats and badges to expats.
