UFO claim: Did NASA detect ’Fireflies’ phenomenon first seen by pioneer John Glenn?
UFO hunters believe this month's reappearance of ‘fireflies' on NASA Helioviewer footage - a phenomena first reported by astronaut John Glenn in 1962 - is actually evidence of alien life.

Remarkable footage was last week published by NASA’s 24/7 livestream of the Sun. The US-based space agency’s Helioviewer has captured a strange light apparently emanating from our solar system’s star.
Something similar was seen by pioneering spaceman John Glenn during the first orbital spaceflight for the US.
100 percent proof that life, even though tiny, exists, thrives in space
He said in 1962: “This is Friendship Seven. I’ll try to describe what I’m in here.
“I am in a big mass of some very small particles, that are brilliantly lit up like they’re luminescent.
“I never saw anything like it. They round a little; they’re coming by the capsule, and they look like little stars.

"A whole shower of them coming by. They swirl around the capsule and go in front of the window and they’re all brilliantly lighted.
“They probably average maybe seven or eight feet apart, but I can see them all down below me, also.”
This ‘firefly’ event is known to be tiny white pieces of frost coming from the side of the prototype spacecraft.
Condensation gathered on the outside of the spacecraft as the capsule passed from the cold orbital darkness and warm sunlight, and then froze again, creating a layer of frost – making this entirely different to what Heliosphere has now spotted.
However, alien life conspiracy theorist Scott Waring thinks Heliosphere had in fact captured proof of extraterrestrials.
He said on his UFOSightingsDaily blog: “I found a sun photo with lots of these UFOs in it which I believe to be small living lifeforms.
“Lots of creatures live in water and space is very similar – so similar astronauts train underwater inside their space suits.
“Astronaut John Glen[n] made a live feed from space in February 1962 from his space capsule orbiting Earth.

“He said he saw ‘white fireflies’ following him slowly and landing on his capsule window and outer hull.
“He said they were most visible at sunset, but as the sun disappeared, the small fireflies also disappeared.
“This tells us the objects did not glow or light-up, but they were only reflecting the light from the Sun as they flew around the capsule.

Waring’s bizarre claims quickly attracted scores of comments on his YouTube page.
And viewer Jamie Judd offers a more rational explanation for what the unmanned solar probe has just witnessed.
She wrote: “The Helio footage is from STEREO A & it was just directly hit with a CME [Coronal Mass Ejection].
“The CME would've occurred right before your Helio video, begins.
“I saw it coming right at STEREO A when it blew off our Sun.
“… having seen what charged particles look like when they're coming right at the satellite, that's exactly what this is … charged particles hitting the camera.”
