Our pooches feel the pinch
THE credit crunch hasn’t just got us humans depressed – our pets are feeling it too, a survey found.
More than 2,000 owners say that their cats and dogs are suffering from either moodiness, aggression, loss of appetite or depression.
The findings equate to almost a fifth – 18 per cent – of cats or dogs suffering from some kind of behavioural problem; the worst evidenced by damage to furniture.
The most miserable region is Yorkshire & Humberside with a quarter of owners saying their pets have at least one problem. The Eastern region was the least affected.
Joanne Mallon of Sainsbury’s Pet Insurance, which carried out the survey, said: “The economy is placing a lot of people under increased stress. Changes in mood could be sensed and leave the animal agitated or depressed.”
