UK weather forecast: Heavy rains to spark ‘flooding’ as yellow warning issued
Strong winds from across the Atlantic, bringing heavy rain clouds, will hit northern England, Wales and Scotland on Wednesday as the remains of Hurricane Nate are set to reach the UK.
Weather models show temperatures reaching the teens until Friday as the ex-hurricane arrives laden with tropical air on the weekend.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning until 3pm, adding “some flooding” may lead to travel chaos on roads as “journey times are made longer”.
The Met Office said: “Heavy and persistent rain, as well as strong winds across northern England and Wales, will steadily spread southeastwards, with rain turning lighter and winds easing.
“Brighter skies will follow into the north and west, with scattered heavy showers.
“Rain across southern and eastern England will clear by midnight, allowing skies to clear and temperatures to gradually dip away.
“Brisk winds and scattered showers will continue in the north.”
Temperatures will remain in the mid teens throughout the week before the UK is hit with scorcher Saturday and Sunday.

It will follow an unusually warm week with thermometers widely expected to hover around 8C above normal for October.
AccuWeather forecaster Kristina Pydynowski said: “Northern United Kingdom will face the brunt of what will become an unsettled week with frequent bouts of rain and gusty winds.
“The wettest and windiest conditions accompanying each front are expected to focus primarily on the northern UK and coastal Wales, creating the greatest disruptions to travel and outdoor plans.
