UK weather: Unsettled skies spread across Britain as holiday hot spell comes to an end
THE Indian summer is officially over as UK braces for winter and very unsettled weather, which is due to last throughout September.
The weather will be windy, with only brief sunny spells coupled with showers or longer spells of rain.
Some of the showers will turn heavy with hail and thunder likely.
Today rain in eastern England should clear to the east. It will then be a dry night for most with clear spells, but with showers in the west and heavy showers in western Scotland.
Wednesday will be a largely bright day tomorrow with sunny intervals but with a scattering of showers in the west, some heavy, especially for western Scotland.
UK braces itself for very unsettled weather
The weather will be windy with long spells of rain
On Thursday, it will turn unsettled for northern areas with cloud and outbreaks of rain pushing in from the west.
But, it should be bright in the south with sunny intervals and some scattered showers.
Friday will be an unsettled day with showers and longer spells of rain, especially in the west. Some could be heavy and thundery, especially in central and northern Britain.
Into next week, there will be more outbreaks of rain and it will be windy, bringing the risk of gales with western and southwestern areas most at risk.
The northwest will see the most rain
The northwest will suffer the wettest and windiest weather and the southeast will see drier, brighter conditions.
Towards the end of the month, the northwestern areas will continue to see the bulk of the rain and stronger winds.
Eastern and southern areas will see drier and brighter weather, but rain will be likely even during these periods.
