UK weather maps turn yellow for 20C scorcher for 6 days - 3 areas as hot as Greece

The next week could be a scorcher for Brits, with temperatures as hot as Greece.

UK weather maps are forecasting highs of up to 20C from Saturday.

But the good weather will start from today, with most of the county enjoying a blast of heat.

Forecast temperatures show a mild but slightly split picture across the UK, with the warmest conditions focused in the south and southeast.

London is set to reach around 19C, with Birmingham close behind at 17C, while Manchester sits at roughly 16C.

Further north, Edinburgh is expected to see highs of around 15C, with Dublin at a similar 16C.

The hotter weather will come a day later, though.

Forecast temperatures show a slightly warmer picture, with the south and southeast seeing the best of the conditions.

London and the surrounding areas are expected to reach around 19C, with some spots locally hitting 20C, making it the warmest part of the UK.

Much of England and Wales will sit between 17–19C, while Manchester is closer to 16–17C.

Further north, Edinburgh is expected to see highs of around 14–15C, with Ireland generally 16–17C.

That will make the UK as warm as Greece in some spots, which will be between 16C and 21C the same day.

The Met Office's long range forecast for Sunday, April 26 to Tuesday, May 5 says high pressure is "likely to be centred close to or over the UK through much of the period".

"Therefore, many places will be largely dry with some clear or sunny spells, although there may be some overnight mist and fog patches, it adds.

"There could, however, be some outbreaks of rain or showers at times, especially in the west and northwest. Winds will be mostly light, but may be fresher around the coasts at times.

"Temperatures will generally be near to or a little above normal, but there may be some colder conditions at first in the far northeast. Towards the end of the period there is a chance that conditions turn a little more unsettled."
