Parts of southern and central England are set to enjoy a warm April spell, with temperatures climbing to balmy temperatures in several cities.
Weather maps suggest parts of the UK are set to enjoy an unseasonably warm spell, with temperatures climbing close to 20C in late April. Forecast charts indicate the warmest conditions will be concentrated across southern and central England, where high pressure is expected to bring brighter skies and milder air.
Based on the latest maps from WXCharts, the areas set to see the highest temperatures include London, Birmingham, Southampton and parts of the wider South East, where values are forecast to peak between 18C and 21C. London appears to be the hotspot, with temperatures reaching around 20C, while Birmingham could nudge similar levels.

Further north, conditions look cooler and more unsettled. Cities such as Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow are expected to see temperatures mostly in the mid to high teens, accompanied by scattered showers, particularly across Scotland and northern England.
The maps also show bands of rain moving across northern regions, while southern areas remain largely drier under the influence of high pressure. This north-south split is expected to define the UK’s weather pattern during the period.
While the warmer conditions may feel like an early taste of summer for some, forecasters caution that temperatures will vary significantly depending on location, with the highest values confined to the south and east.
Separately, the Met Office forecast reads: "While some areas will see breezier weather at times, many parts by day will see above average temperatures for the time of year. Overnight, temperatures will drop, leading to chilly mornings with the chance of some overnight frost.
"Low pressure to the southwest is currently pushing against the area of high pressure across the UK, leading to windy conditions in the southwest. As the high gradually drifts southwards, winds will ease slightly, allowing more settled conditions to establish. "
