Met Office puts millions on alert with new weather warning for 70mph winds to batter UK
Transport is "likely" to be affected by the strong gales, the weather agency warned.
Southern England and south Wales have been issued with a yellow weather warning for strong winds which could reach up to 70mph. The Met Office warns that the gales could cause delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport.
Parts of these areas may also see bus and rail journeys affected by the heady breezes.
The warnings are currently in place for Thursday evening and Friday morning.
Coastal areas will see winds as high as 50-60mph, with 70mph potentially hitting over exposed hills and headlands with winds probably peaking after they veer west or northwesterly.
The agency recommends keeping any loose items inside or secured, such as bins, plant plots and garden furniture.
Before your journey, it's worth checking the route and planning around any potential delays.
The Met Office also recommends keeping essentials in your car for any journeys, such as warm clothing, food, drink, blanket, torch.
While driving, remember to drive slowly to minimise the impact of wind gusts.

Keep tight hold of the steering wheel and give cyclists, motorcyclists, lorries and buses more room than usual.
The strong winds are a result of a deep area of low pressure moving eastwards across southern Britain during Thursday evening and Friday morning.
This will bring spells of southerly winds, followed by then a lull, followed by strong west or northwesterly winds.
