BBC Weather: 60mph gale force winds slam into UK – 'very blustery' weekend forecast
BBC WEATHER has forecast over strong gale force winds that are expected to whip through the country this weekend with a healthy dose of rain - although it won't be a 'complete washout'.
BBC Weather: UK set for ‘gale force winds’ and mild conditions
It's going to be a "very blustery" weekend with a pretty deep area of low pressure always nearby, according to meteorologist Stav Danaos. The weather presenter warned that this is going to bring widespread gales and some heavy rain at times. However, he noted on BBC Breakfast that it isn't going to be a "complete washout".
Mr Danaos told viewers: "I have to emphasise there is going to be quite a bit of sunshine around through this afternoon and again into tomorrow.
"A rain-bearing area of cloud is pushing over Northern Ireland and western Scotland at the moment.
"There'll be pretty heavy bursts there blown in by strong gale force winds.
"The rain is just getting into western England and Wales now."

He continued: "That band of rain will continue to journey its way eastwards.
"It looks like we'll see some very short-lived, very heavy rain, as that moves through.
"Ahead of it as well, it's going to stay dry and cloudy before that rain arrives.
"It's certainly on this rain band where winds will be strongest."

The BBC presenter added: "Behind it, a clearance with some sunny spells and a few showers.
"It's going to be a very gusty day wherever you are, particularly along that band of heavy rain.
"Gusts will be in excess of 50, maybe 60mph."

Mr Danaos said: "But you can see there are gusts either side of that that are still quite strong.
"Ahead of that, the temperatures are pretty mild at 15 to 17 degrees.
"But, as that rain moves through, temperatures will drop into the low teens Celsius.
"But at least you'll have the sunshine to compensate.
"Then that area of heavy rain will move into the southeast and East Anglia during the evening."
