Met Eireann weather warnings: Storm Lorenzo arriving in Ireland NOW - Latest warnings
STORM LORENZO, named after the previously Category 5 Hurricane Lorenzo, will arrive in Ireland on Thursday, bringing disruptive winds and flooding. Here are the latest weather warnings from Met Eireann.
Met Office: Hurricane Lorenzo to bring strong winds across UK
The effects of Storm Lorenzo will begin to be felt across Ireland from Thursday morning, Met Eireann has warned. The storm, which lost its hurricane status yesterday, is still considered a powerful weather system and winds up to 80mph are expected in some areas of Ireland. A number of weather warnings have come into force due to expected heavy rain, violent winds, falling trees and flooding.
Storm Lorenzo will also produce significant swell, high waves and sizeable storm surges.
Met Eireann warned this will lead to wave overtopping, some coastal flooding and damage, especially along western and southern coasts.
Heavy rain can also lead to river flooding, especially in parts of the midlands and west.
