UK weather: Easter weekend promises 'plenty of sunshine'
How warm could it get?
According to the Met Office, temperatures could reach more than 10C higher than the average for this time of year.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Steve Willington said: "From Wednesday (April 17) temperatures will start to rise day by day and with the sun getting stronger at this time of year, it’s going to feel warm or very warm by the time we get to Good Friday and Easter Saturday."
“Temperatures will reach into the low 20s Celsius quite widely and there’s a good chance some places in the south could see temperatures peaking around 23 Celsius.

“With temperatures usually around 10 to 13 Celsius at this time of year, it’s certainly going to be significantly warmer than average this Easter weekend and quite a contrast to the colder weather we have seen so far this month.”
These warm temperatures are good news for anyone planning an Easter barbecue.
However, those hoping to relax in the hot weather this weekend should make the most of it, as it could turn cooler from Easter Sunday.
Mr Willington explained: “It currently looks like more changeable and cooler weather will arrive from the northwest from Easter Sunday, however, there remains the chance that southeastern parts of the country could remain warm and settled into Easter Monday.
“With this uncertainty in mind, our advice is to keep up to date with the latest forecast if you are making plans.”
Could this Easter exceed temperatures of previous Easters?
According to the Met Office, the highest temperature recorded over an Easter weekend has been reached four times.
This happened in Heathrow (London), Mildenhall (Suffolk) and Wisley (Surrey) where 27.8C was recorded in 1949. This occurred once again in Wisley in 2011.
Weather forecasters are predicting low to mid 20sC, so this year Easter may not top the hottest felt so far.
Temperatures are predicted to reach around 23C in the south and 20C for the north of England.
However, the Met Office has warned that the pollen count will be on the rise as we head into the weekend - so those with allergies should take preventative measures.
The UV levels will also be moderate for many areas, so top up on suncream if you plan on spending periods of time outdoors.
