Met Office: Temperatures to RISE as UK set for more sunshine
But a long-awaited swelter is set to descend on the UK just in time for the Easter weekend. Temperatures will soar, ever pushing the gauge upwards, chocolate Easter eggs won’t stand a chance. But before the sauna-like conditions arrive, the true grit of winter will give one final kick.
Meteorologist Aidan McGivern summed up the week, saying: “We started the week with a cold wind, now we'll end the week with warm sunshine.”
He added: “On Monday night a breeze will cross many areas and it's going to be wet in the west, that rainfall is courtesy of this low-pressure system.
“Now high pressure has centred over Scandinavia for a long time, but it's just releasing its grip ever so slightly on Monday night to allow these weather fronts to creep in.”
Mr McGivern went on to instruct that weather fronts will bring cloud and outbreaks rain to the far west through Monday.

But, Northern Ireland, Wales and the southwest will see fairly wet weather through Monday night and the rainfall will be heavy over the hills of Wales.
Mr McGivern said: “We will see cloudy skies in the east as well and that means that it's frost free virtually everywhere.
“It will be fairly foggy in the far southwest as the rain clears quite a lot of hill fog.
“It will stay damp in the west of Scotland, northwest England and into parts of Wales through much of Tuesday.”
UK weather: Temperatures to reach 23C over Easter weekend
By midweek we are through the worst of the cold snap and the sky begins to clear and the sun will reign in the sky.
Mr McGivern said: “Wednesday is going to brighten up quite quickly with the cloud breaking up and sunshine coming through.
“On Wednesday there will be sunny spells and a feeling of warmth in that sunshine, with temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees.
“By Thursday and Friday those temperatures are going to continue to edge upwards, so an improving picture as we head towards the weekend.”
