UK weather forecast SHOCK: Britain HOTTER than Turkey as festive warm front continues
THE UK is set to experience a largely warm day, with much of the country hotter than Turkey, though some frost and fog should be expected in Scotland.
Thick cloud cover will keep in the heat, but also keep out much of the sun. Temperatures will be above average for this time of year, topping Istanbul in Turkey. The warm weather will continue into tomorrow, though some rain should be expected.
Met Office meteorologist Helen Roberts commented: “It’s another fairly cloudy start out there for most of us.
“There are some frost and fog patches in the far south and occasional brighter spells to.
“Northern Scotland being one of those places with a chilly start across rural parts of Aberdeenshire this morning.
“But as we edge southwards across the UK a big blanket of cloud will keep temperatures up.”

The relatively warm temperatures will continue throughout the day, with much of England seeing 7 or 8 degrees celsius.
This is higher than the maximum temperature expected in Istanbul, Turkey’s biggest city, which is not expected to exceed 6 degrees.
Ms Roberts predicted: “Temperatures a touch above average for the time of year particularly in the West.”
Skies will be clear in the far south of England during the early morning, and this could produce a little frost and fog.
As we head into the afternoon much of the country will remain blanketed by cloud, with little sunshine breaking through.
Some rain should be expected in western and southern Scotland, but the majority of the country will remain dry.
The best of the sunshine is expected in the south of England.
The cloudy and largely dry weather is expected to continue tomorrow.
Ms Roberts asserted: “For tomorrow as we end the week some fog patches first thing in the morning, outbreaks of rain in the far north but otherwise it’s another largely dry and cloudy day.”
