'I met Donald Trump on set of iconic film and he showed true colours within seconds'
British actor Tim Curry has talked about what it was really like working with Donald Trump on the Christmas classic, Home Alone 2

Hollywood star Tim Curry has spoken about what it was like to work with Donald Trump on the set of Home Alone 2. The British actor, 79, has highlighted his experience working with the now 45th and 47th President of the United States on the 1992 film. Back then, Trump was not a politician or a reality television star, but a rich businessman in New York.
Nearly 33 years on from the release of Home Alone 2, Tim has released a memoir titled ‘Vagabond: A Memoir’ about his life both before and after his stroke in 2012 that resulted in partial paralysis. Speaking about what Trump was like on set at The Plaza Hotel, which he owned at the time, Tim recalled that the future POTUS was particularly keen for his then-girlfriend, Marla Maples, to meet the director.

He told the Guardian: “He was very anxious to find Chris Columbus, the director … He said: ‘I’ve got to get Marla to meet Chris Columbus because she’s a brilliant actress.’ And I thought: ‘Yeah, I’m sure.’”
Tim also revealed that he subsequently had to lie to Trump’s wife Ivana about her interior design decisions when he moved into the hotel whilst making the film.
He said: “She knocked on my door and said, ‘Are you happy in your room? Do you like the way it looks?’ And I loathed it actually.”
Tim Curry isn’t the only member of the Home Alone 2 team to have commented on Trump’s appearance in the Christmas classic that made £280m at the box office and became the third highest grossing film of that year.
Director Chris Columbus, who also directed the first two Harry Potter films, also shared his thoughts. Specifically, Chris has suggested that, if he had the chance, he would remove Trump’s cameo from the film entirely, but fears doing so in case of reprisals.
Speaking to the San Francisco Chronicle he admitted the scene had become “an albatross” that he wants to remove. He said: “It’s become this curse. It’s become an albatross for me. I just wish it was gone.”
However Chris, a San Francisco resident of Italian ancestry, fears that if he cut Trump’s cameo, he would “have to go back to Italy or something”.
His comments came shortly after Trump became president for the second time, amid fears of retaliation from the president's administration against those who had previously been critical of him.
This has included a butting of heads with famous faces after Hollywood stars protested against what ended up being a brief suspension of late night host Jimmy Kimmel’s show earlier this year, whilst Trump celebrated on his social media platform, Truth Social.
