‘Heroin girl’ may be shot
A PREGNANT Briton faces death by firing squad if found guilty at a trial in Laos next week of possessing heroin.
Samantha Orobator, 20, was held at Laos’s Wattay Airport last August allegedly with 600g of the drug after a holiday in Thailand and the Netherlands.
She is being held at notorious Phonthong prison where conditions are said to be horrific.
Miss Orobator, who was born in Nigeria but has lived in London for 12 years and is a British citizen, got pregnant in the prison in December.
Legal charity Reprieve, which wants the British Government to intervene, claims the trial is being held at short notice, making it impossible to prepare an adequate defence.
A spokesman said: “There is no evidence she was anything more than a mule.”
