London travel chaos as car BURSTS INTO FLAMES in busy Greenwich street
A CAR has burst into flames in Greenwich, causing travel chaos on London's A102 and Blackwall Lane streets.
The car fire has caused travel disruption for rush-hour commuters passing through Greenwich.
Transport for London said on Twitter: "A102 / Blackwall Lane - The road is blocked both ways owing to a vehicle fire on the southbound side."
The northbound carriage has since reopened but the street is still blocked southbound.
The London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police are at the scene.
One commuter said on Twitter he had been at “standstill” for half an hour.
Another, referencing the closure of the Dartford Tunnel this evening, said: “Feel sorry for anyone who decided to avoid the Dartford tunnel / bridge issues by heading for the Blackwall Tunnel instead tonight.”
