Salmond's crisis meeting
A TOP-LEVEL crisis meeting will be held today on Scotland’s response to swine flu.
First Minister Alex Salmond will be hosting the Civil Contingencies Committee.
The meeting — in the Scottish Government Resilience Room in the basement of St Andrew’s House, Edinburgh, known as SGORR, equivalent to the UK Government’s COBRA — will include representatives of strategic co-ordinating groups.
These are experts, including police and medics, who would be in control of emergency measures.
Speaking at First Minister’s Questions, Mr Salmond said: “What we have done, it seems, in our identified cases is effectively bought ourselves some time in terms of interrupting the spread of the virus. That is obviously very valuable.”
