Mum in court over murder of her ‘fun-loving’ daughter
A MOTHER appeared in court yesterday accused of the murder of her “fun-loving and bubbly” daughter. Carly Ann Harris, 37, was arrested after the body of four-year-old Amelia Brooke Harris was found at the family home.
Harris sobbed and mouthed the word “sorry” to the public gallery at Merthyr Tydfil magistrates court, South Wales.
One man in the public gallery broke down in tears during the two-minute hearing.
Harris, from Trealaw, Rhondda, South Wales, arrived at the court in prison issue clothes with a jumper covering her head as she was led handcuffed to a security guard from the prison van to the court.
She spoke only to confirm her name and address before being remanded in custody.
Harris is due to appear at Cardiff Crown Court later today.
Emergency services were called to the family home last Friday night after neighbours called 999.
Tributes have been made to the little girl, who was said to have loved Peppa Pig and the colour pink.
A family spokesman said: “Amelia was beautiful both inside and out and was a fun-loving, caring and bubbly little girl.
“She was taken far too early from us and had her whole life ahead of her.”
