100 stolen police uniforms found
POLICE have found 100 stolen force uniforms in a raid on a flat to smash a racket in which officers’ clothing was being sold to criminals so that they could pose as officers in robberies.
It is understood full sets of police gear, including batons, body armour, handcuffs and CS spray-holders, were being sold for up to £500 each.
The uniforms, with Metropolitan Police badges, were found in the raid in Salford, Greater Manchester. Two men aged 45 and 36 were arrested.
Villains posing as police have committed several robberies locally.
Three hours before the police raid on Monday, three men with high visibility police jackets and warrant cards handcuffed a steward as they robbed a British Legion club in Walkden.
