Peter Bone claims EU bureaucrats could destroy Theresa May's Brexit progress
BREXITEER Peter Bone has claimed the European Union could “screw up” progress made in negotiations so far between Britain as Brussels.
Bone: There’s no track record of EU bureaucrats being sensible
The Conservative MP and leading Brexit supporter claimed the European Union were “quite likely” to destroy progress made in negotiations.
Mr Bone said Theresa May was “on course” to deliver what the British people voted for but he admitted the Prime Minister still had a couple of issues to overcome.
The Brexiteer also told Julia Hartley-Brewer on talkRADIO that EU bureaucrats have “never” acted in a “sensible” way which could damage progress made in talks.
He said: “I think the Prime Minister’s absolutely on course to deliver what the public voted for, I think she’s been determined to do that from day one.

“She will deliver, but there are a couple of problems.
“First of all, we can’t force the European Union to be sensible and there’s no track record of the European Union bureaucrats being sensible about anything, so they could screw the whole process up and are quite likely to.”
Mr Bone also claimed Conservative rebels could find a way to block what the British people voted for.

Jeremy Corbyn is expected to deliver a speech next week to give more clarity to Labour’s position on Brexit.
The Labour Party leader is also expected to take a softer line with his speech, with many Labour MPs supporting a move to keep the UK in the customs union after Brexit.

But, Mr Bone also said that he still thought the Labour Party had fractures among MPs with the issue of Brexit.
“Mrs May may have problems, but Jeremy Corbyn's got a lot more problems with his party,” he said.
“I would encourage him to face down his Labour MPs who are completely still in favour of the European Union.
“He isn’t actually saying what he thinks because he doesn’t believe in the European Union and he’s on our side.”
