Two police officers seriously injured in car smash
TWO police officers were yesterday fighting for their life in hospital after a sports car ploughed into them.
The crash took place on the A406 North Circular Road near Brent Park
They were struck by a Maserati as they walked back to their vehicle.
The male and female constables, aged in their 30s, were returning to the marked police vehicle on a major A-road when the car hit them at around 3.40am.
The driver of the Maserati – a man aged in his 50s – was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen of breath.
Police said the car sustained serious damage and stopped at the scene on the A406 North Circular Road near Brent Park in Neasden, north London.

The male officer sustained serious injuries while the female officer sustained a number of fractures.
Her condition is described as serious but stable.

London Ambulance Service took the two officers to hospital, along with a female occupant of the car.
The woman passenger, aged in her 40s, was not seriously injured but remains in hospital.
Police said the Maserati driver had been taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.
The incident was not terror related.
Road closures were put in place while emergency services attended, with all cordons later lifted.
