An elderly resident was told to leave their house after the gaping hole opened up on their driveway
An elderly resident was told to leave their house after the gaping hole opened up on the driveway of the property in the West Midlands, at around 5pm on Sunday.
Pictures showed a red Chevrolet teetering on the brink of the chasm with a back wheel up in the air.
Members of the public were also told to move their vehicles from Churchfields Road, Wednesbury, by police. And there were fears the Chevrolet car could be swallowed up by the hole.
A council spokesman said the sinkhole was on private property and insurance companies were dealing with the matter.
Barriers were placed around affected properties as investigations continued.
A nearby resident, who asked not be named, said: “The structural engineers told me I’m not supposed to be in this house.”
