Ex-soldier charged with murder of dog walker Peter Wrighton appears in court
AN EX-soldier charged with the murder of dog walker Peter Wrighton appeared before a judge today.

Dressed in the green and yellow of Norwich City FC, Alexander Palmer sat in a prison video suite during the short hearing.
The 23-year-old, who was a gunner in the Royal Artillery for five years, is accused of stabbing Mr Wrighton to death.

Retired BT worker Mr Wrighton, 83, suffered knife wounds to the head and neck in woods at East Harling, Norfolk, on August 5.
Palmer, of Cringleford, Norwich, was remanded in custody after a four-minute hearing at the city’s crown court.
The ex-soldier, who left the army in 2015, appeared via a video link from HMP Norwich.

Judge Stephen Holt set a provisional trial date for February 12.
Mr Wrighton was found dead 50 yards from his red Skoda Fabia car.
He had driven four miles from his home in Banham to walk his dogs Gemma and Dylan.
They were found unharmed near his body.
