A MAN has been arrested at Southend Airport on suspicion of terror offences.
A man was arrested at Southend Airport on suspicion of terror offences
Police said the 49-year-old man was stopped at the airport in Southend, Essex earlier today.
He was arrested on suspicion of preparation of acts to commit terrorism, under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006, Metropolitan Police said.
Officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command detained the man.
The suspect was taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.

Police also carried out a search at an address in Essex.
Metropolitan Police said enquiries continue.
The current terrorist threat level in Britain, which has seen attacks by Islamist militants in London, 36 miles west of Southend, is considered severe, meaning an attack is highly likely.
Southend Airport handles scheduled passenger, charter and business flights as well as pilot training and recreational flying.
