‘Germany must do MORE for investment’ Brussels chief urges Eurozone reform
A LEADING Brussels diplomat has demanded urgent reform of the Eurozone, accusing it of ignoring the 11 million people it serves.
Pierre Moscovici, the European Commissioner for economic and finance affairs called for change
Pierre Moscovici, the European Commissioner for economic and finance affairs, called for the European Union to undergo a host of changes to make it more "accountable" to people.
He said: “We are deciding behind closed doors the fate of 11 million people."
In addition, Mr Moscovici wants Germany to be more open and France to create reform.
He also urged for national governments to take responsibility for the Greek crisis and offer solutions.
He said: “It’s clear without a strong agreement between France and Germany, nothing happens.
“You need to have French ideas asking the Germans to do more for investment.”
On Greece, he said: “You’ve made your part of the job. You have taken your responsibility. Now we need to take ours.”

Mr Moscovici believes that the EU needs an overhaul and suggests a finance minister for the bloc would offer stability.
The person would serve as president of the euro zone and as a member of the EU Commission. They would be responsible for financial policies and answer to the European Parliament.
But, he acknowledges, there are no immediate plans for this.
The French man expressed his frustration that there had been so little reform, especially as it is so influential in millions of people’s lives.

He added: “I believe that we need structural reforms in Europe. But structural reforms don’t mean pain. It doesn’t mean that somebody should be punished.”
“We don’t need more technocracy, we need less technocracy, and we need more transparency.”
The French politician previously served as the European Commissioner for Economic Affairs, Taxation and Customs.
He was France's Minister of Finance from 2012 to 2014.
He is an outspoken critic of the EU and has repeatedly called for an overhaul of the eurozone.
He said Europe needed a more unified economy to reduce the inequalities that people perceive to be occurring fueling right-wing populism.
