'You don't get it!' Ferrari rips into 'sneering elites' who declare Brexit revolt is over
NICK Ferrari launched a furious tirade against establishment figures who have prematurely declared an end to the populist revolution that caused Brexit.
Ferrari slams 'sneering' establishment over populist revolution
Nick Ferrari took aim at the left-wing liberal commentators who declared that Emmanuel Macron's victory meant the end of populism in Europe.
During a tirade on Sky News' The Pledge, the commentator said that these figures just "don't get it".
His damning indictment came after fellow panellist Rachel Johnson said that the French election result proved that "people can see a bit more clearly now".
She said that the recent elections in Austria, the Netherlands and France meant that common sense was prevailing.
Mr Macron convincingly beat his anti-immigrant rival Marine Le Pen, in a victory applauded by leading pro-EU figures.
Ferrari ripped into this patronising sentiment.
Riots hit Paris the day after Macron's victory
This patronising remark infuriated Ferrari, who ripped into the "sneering liberals" for their premature prediction.
The Express columnist said the people's anger at the establishment was still growing.
He said: "I loathe the way that people in their hummus-eating yoga-practising tennis-playing Waitrose-shopping way sneer at what they call populism.
"Populism is actually the exercise of democracy and that is what happened here and that is what happened in the US."

The revolution is still out there!
The furious commentator continued: "You are so fundamentally wrong about France.
"You’re saying that 'people can see a bit more clearly now'.
"Don’t you see that this was a revolt justed by different causes?"
"This is the first time since 1958 that neither candidate was not from one of the two main political parties."

Le Pen's loss does not mean the end of populism
Ferrari said ordinary voters in Western democracies are still fed up and sick of being ignored by the elite.
He said the French voters were "still cocking a snook at the traditional party system".
The panellist then added: "The system till doesn’t work and if you drill down through the figures a little bit more, you see that.
"35 percent of the electorate were against Macron. There were a record number of abstentions, and it was a far lower turnout than you believe."
Macron won convincingly on a pro-EU platform
Rachel Johnson said Macron's win meant that the French people 'could see clearly now'
He said: "We did not get Le Pen, thank god - but please don’t read too much into that.
"A lot of France was too bored. A lot of France just didn’t like the other candidate.
"And what you call populism is actually of real sentiment to people. This is the first time we’ve seen politics like that in 60 years.
