'You're the MUGWUMP Boris!' Farage DEMANDS Johnson stop interfering with foreign countries
NIGEL FARAGE hit out at Boris Johnson’s stance on backing the US should it carry out a further airstrike in Syria, calling him a “mugwump”.
Farage RAGES at Boris Johnson over Syria intervention plan
The former Ukip leader used the Foreign Secretary’s term for Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn against him as he blasted his comments.
Mr Johnson has said it would be difficult for the UK to refuse the United States if it asks for support in a further military strike on Syria.
But Farage went on the attack against the Foreign Secretary, saying his comments would be “reviled by most people” in the UK.
Speaking on his LBC show, the MEP said the country had “had enough of foreign wars”.
Nigel Farage used Boris Johnson's word against him, calling him a "mugwump"
We’ve had enough of foreign wars and certainly Parliament should have a say first
He said: “By the way, a mugwump, now this was out of a Roald Dahl book and it’s somebody who is seen as aloof or independent especially politically and that is how Boris sees Jeremy Corbyn.
“All I can say is this, Boris you’re the mugwump of the day, not Jeremy Corbyn. What you’ve said, I think, is reviled by most people in this country.
“We’ve had enough of foreign wars and certainly Parliament should have a say first.”
Theresa May burst into laughter on Thursday when a journalist asked her about the Foreign Secretary’s future in the role.
The Prime Minister confirmed Mr Johnson has a future in her Cabinet after he claimed it would be hard to say no to supporting further US airstrikes in Syria.
While campaigning for the June 8 General Election in Leeds, Mrs May was quizzed by a Times journalist on Mr Johnson’s future.
The reporter said: “You are asking for a mandate to deliver Brexit in this election. If you win, will Boris Johnson remain Foreign Secretary to help you deliver on that mandate?”
His question was met by a chorus of laughter, particularly Mrs May. She did, however, praise the work of Mr Johnson as Foreign Secretary.
