‘Not in my lifetime’ Lord Kinnock claims he will NEVER witness another Labour government
A FORMER Labour leader has blasted Jeremy Corbyn’s shadow cabinet and claimed the party will not win another election unless there are “substantial changes”.
Lord Neil Kinnock has said he will never witness a Labour government in his lifetime
Lord Neil Kinnock, 75, previously said Labour is facing its greatest crisis since the 1930s.
But speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live’s John Pienaar, the peer said he will not see a Labour government in his “lifetime”.
Lord Kinnock said: “I think that it’s unlikely that we will make the kind of gains because as you will recall… I said that unless there are substantial changes, that I am unlikely to live to see another Labour government.
“There haven’t been the substantial changes that I would have wanted and therefore I’m as gloomy about my prospects of living to see another Labour government as I was then.”
Corbyn will try to tackle the perception that his party cannot win on June 8, in his first election campaign speech.
The Labour leader is expected to say: “Much of the media and establishment are saying this election is a foregone conclusion.
“We will prove the establishment experts wrong and change the direction of this election because the British people know that they are the true wealth creators, held back by a system rigged for the wealth extractors.”
