Colin Montgomerie in £5m ‘post-nuptial’ divorce wrangle
GOLFER Colin Montgomerie has given evidence in a divorce action in which he is suing his estranged wife for £5million in a dispute over her home.

At the Court of Session in Edinburgh yesterday, judge Lord Doherty was told of the alleged unfairness of a 2010 deal.
The arrangement – signed after the 53-year-old sportsman was caught cheating with another woman – allegedly committed him to pay for the upkeep of Gaynor’s £2million Perthshire farmhouse.

Montgomerie, of Ayrshire, believed the deal was not fair and reasonable. He is suing Gaynor for £5million and is also demanding payments from her of £6,500 per month.
He claims Gaynor placed him under pressure to enter into the “post-nuptial” agreement so their marriage could continue.

Gaynor’s first husband, George Knowles, died leaving her a £20million fortune.
She is demanding Montgomerie – believed to be worth £40million – honours the alleged deal and is counter suing him for £5million and £10,000-per-month payments.
