A lifeboat had to be called out to rescue another lifeboat which had suffered a major leak
The RNLI lifeboat was en route from Poole in Dorset to the seaside town of Salcombe, Devon when it suffered a major leak, causing water to pour into the engine room.
The crew managed to get the leak under control but a fellow lifeboat from Swanage, Dorset, was summoned to escort the vessel back to Poole for repairs.
The incident happened at 12.30pm yesterday.
Last year a different lifeboat crew needed to be saved by members of the public in a dramatic rescue.

The RNLI crew had gone out in their truck to warn beach goers about a fierce swell.
It was nice that everybody, without asking, just helped
But their vehicle got stuck prompting people to dash over and help free it from the sand.
Holidaymaker Barney Barnett, 36, captured the scene at Croyde Bay, Devon, on camera.

He said: “The tide was coming in really quickly. Had the public not got involved I don't think they would have made it.
“It was nice that everybody, without asking, just helped. The good old British people just all came together and pushed the vehicle free."
