A TEENAGE girl pleaded not guilty today to the murder of seven-year-old Katie Rough.
A teenage girl pleaded not guilty today to the murder of seven-year-old Katie Rough.
The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared via video link to deny murdering the schoolgirl on January 9.
Wearing a purple blouse, black trousers and glasses, the youngster sat in a side room of Leeds Crown Court, West Yorkshire, with her legs crossed and arms folded throughout the thirty minute hearing.

She remained completely silent throughout and did not even speak to enter her plea, as Recorder of Leeds, Peter Collier QC allowed the teen to indicate in writing if she was guilty or not guilty of murdering Katie.
The youngster was given a copy of the indictment outlining the charge against her and was told to write guilty or not guilty next to the charge.

Her solicitor Colin Byrne confirmed a not guilty plea was written on her copy of the indictment.
Sitting in the jury bench at one side of the courtroom, twelve family members watched on quietly.
The Recorder of Leeds, Peter Collier QC adjourned the case for a further hearing on April 4 and set a trial, due to last two to three weeks, to begin on July
