Avalanche on Ben Nevis sparks rescue mission for climbers
A RESCUE mission has been launched for climbers on Ben Nevis after an avalanche.

Three climbers have been taken to hospital after teams from Lochaber Mountain Rescue and a Coastguard rescue helicopter were mobilised.
The trio are being treated at Belford Hospital in Fort William.
Police said they had received a call about the accident at about 12:15 on Saturday.

In February 2016 climbers Tim Newton and Rachel Slater were killed by a “massive” avalanche”.
Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the British Isles, standing at 1,345 metres above sea level.

According to the Scottish Avalanche Information Service warned earlier in the day chances of an avalanche ‘considerable’.
