Commuters set for travel CHAOS: Tube strikes WILL go ahead after last ditch talks failed
CRIPPLING tube strikes are definitely going ahead after last ditch talks between unions and Transport for London fall through.
The tube strike is set to go ahead after last ditch talks between Unions and TfL failed
Around 4,000 Underground staff will be striking, bringing London's transport system to a stand still.
The walk out will take place from 6pm on Sunday until 6pm on Monday, but there is likely to be a knock-on effect of delays running into Tuesday.
Members of the Members of the Transport Salaried Staffs Association and the Rail, Maritime and Transport union are angry at the cuting of 800 jobs under former Mayor Boris Johnson and the fact Sadiq Khan is yet to reopen any of the closed ticket offices since taking over the role.
Transport for London said most Zone 1 stations would be closed during striking hours and at best commuters can expect a "severely restricted underground service".
The arterial stations of Victoria, King’s Cross, Waterloo, Paddington, Euston, Bank and London Bridge will be shut.
TfL also said there would be no services at all on the Victoria and Waterloo and City lines and the North Acton to West Ruislip branch of the Central.
There will be a limited service will on the District, Circle and Hammersmith and City lines, but trains will not stop at all stations.
London Underground will barely be running tomorrow as tube strikes are definitely going ahead
Piccadilly line services will still run between Hammersmith and Heathrow Terminals 1, 2 and 3, but not to Terminals 4 or 5, while there will be limited services in outer London.
A TSSA source said: "We really are more concerned about working out how to undo the staffing and safety problems Boris Johnson and George Osborne bequeathed to the Tube.
"Resolving these issues so staff can work in a safe place and know they've got procedures in place to protect and keep safe their passengers are what concern our overworked, over-tired and over-abused Tube staff. That takes talking."
