Heroic shopkeeper fights off thug who stabbed him as he tried to steal cigarettes
A SHOPKEEPER was injured as he fought off a knife-wielding thug as he defended his shop during an attempted robbery.

Sandeep Yadala was stabbed in his side after a young robber tried to steal from his store in Timperley, Greater Manchester.
The 30-year-old shopkeeper managed to drag the thug to the ground during the attack as he protected his shop.
In the footage, Mr Yadala describes how the thug came up to the counter brandishing his knife as he tried to steal cigarettes.
The shopkeeper, from India, who is currently studying a post-graduate degree injured his hand and side as he disarmed the raider.

MEN report that the police arrived soon after and hailed the shopkeepers actions as ‘brave work’.
The incident took place on December 29 when the robber asked for cigarettes before turning on the shop manager.
In the footage, father, Mr Yadala said: “He showed me his knife from his left hand side under his pants.
“I told him ‘don’t be funny’.”
Mr Yadala pressed the panic alarm as the thug got closer before the robber is then seen attempting to smash a bottle onto the manager’s head.
Both were showered in Prosecco as they fought before the shopkeeper successfully got the knife away from the intruder.

The manager was injured by the blade during the incident, however he still managed to wrestle the raider to the ground.
In the footage the shopkeeper can be seen throwing the knife away from the thug as a customer took it and hid it away before returning.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of robbery before being released on bail.
The brave shopkeeper was also involved grappling with a robber back in February when four masked men raided £3,000 worth of cigarettes from the display of the same store.
