BRITAIN is stepping up its post-Brexit defence diplomacy by setting up liaison teams across the world.

The new regional British Defence Staffs will be based in Dubai, Singapore and the Nigerian capital Abuja.
Their role will be to coordinate with allies and support UK defence initiatives including training teams sent to local forces.
Each small team will help focus efforts on terrorist groups such as Islamic State in the Middle East and Boko Haram in Africa.
They will reinforce trading contacts with partner states as Britain seeks new markets after Brexit.
Only last week Theresa May visited the Gulf to strengthen ties with the region.

Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon said: “Setting up new British Defence Staffs will broaden our global reach, support regional stability and security, and ensure greater cooperation with our partners.
“Backed by a rising Defence budget, this shows Britain is stepping up across the world to keep us safe at home.”
