Daft Darcy's dam disaster puts her in line for pooch prize
A FAMILY dog that survived a fall down a 60ft dam is up for an award to recognise plucky pets.
Cocker spaniel Darcy fell down a 60ft dam and suffering serious injuries
Cocker spaniel Darcy made the horror plunge on a holiday walk with owners Wendy and Gordon Lyon at Glascarnoch Dam near Ullapool, Wester Ross.
The two-year-old suffered broken bones and a collapsed lung and had to have her spleen removed after jumping over a wall on the dam in July.
She had surgery at Parkside Vets in Dundee, where Mrs Lyons is a receptionist.
Darcy is now up against five other "plucky pets" for the coveted title of PDSA Pet Survivor 2016.

Mrs Lyon, of Kellas, nearDundee, said: "We'd walked there many times and she'd never done anything like that before. We have no idea why she suddenly decided to jump.
She's been a model patient and is an incredibly brave, sweet-natured dog
"Darcy had extraordinary care from her vets, they really went above and beyond for her.
"The treatment has cost thousands of pounds - thankfully her insurance has covered a lot of that, although we have still had to pay for some parts of her rehab.
"It's been an expensive time, but when I see her happy and running again it's worth it."
