Two arrested in probe into Sir Edward Heath child sex allegations
TWO people have been arrested as part of an investigation into allegations of child abuse made against former prime minister Sir Edward Heath.
Sir Edward was named as a suspect in historical child abuse case last year
Wiltshire Police have said no more about the suspects who are on bail.
Operation Conifer was launched in August last year after Sir Edward was named as a suspect in an investigation into historical child sex abuse.
The force said the investigation “aims to safeguard children and vulnerable adults who may be at risk of abuse today and bring living offenders to justice”.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “Wiltshire Police is the national lead in relation to Operation Conifer.
Sir Edward became the most high-profile figure linked to historical abuse allegations last year
"The purpose of Operation Conifer is to investigate allegations of child abuse made against the former Prime Minister Sir Edward (Ted) Heath.
"In addition, the investigation aims to safeguard children and vulnerable adults who may be at risk of abuse today and, where relevant, bring living offenders to justice."
