Hours of delays on M1 between junction 23 and 23a after jack-knifed lorry crashes
There are huge delays on the M1 after a lorry jack-knifed and crashed into the central reservation this afternoon.
Traffic is at a standstill on the M1 betweenJ23 and J23a
Traffic is at a standstill in both directions following the incident, with the Northbound carriageway closed in Leicestershire between Junction 23 and Junction 23a.
A lorry crashed through the central reservation, causing the closure of two of the three lanes on the Southbound carriage as well.

Castle Donington Fire and Rescue service tweeted saying the driver was "very fortunate" to walk away from the vehicle unharmed.
They also warned any motorists travelling to East Midlands Airport to allow more time for their journeys, and asked other drivers to avoid the area where possible.

The Northbound carriageway remains closed, causing heavy congestion back to J24a (Derby/ Stoke/ East Midlands Airport) and J24 (Kegworth/ East Midlands Airport)
