Hapless Jeremy Corbyn DOESN'T KNOW how many seats Labour needs to win next election
JEREMY Corbyn was left-red faced after appearing to have no idea how many seats Labour need to win for him to become Prime Minister.
Smith: Corbyn not serious about beating the Tories
The embattled socialist was grilled about the chances of crisis-hit Labour winning the 2020 election during a Sky News debate tonight.
He claimed the party needs to win "at least 90" seats to secure a majority – but leadership rival Owen Smith quickly put him in his place.
The Welsh MP, who quit the Shadow Cabinet in June at protest at Mr Corbyn's leadership, said: "No we don't, we need to win 106, Jeremy."
Jeremy, I don't think you are serious about winning power
Corbyn insisted the figure depends on proposed changes to Parliamentary constituencies.
But Mr Smith added: "I worry that the leader of the Labour Party doesn't know how many seats we need to win from the Tories.
"The reason I resigned, Jeremy, is I don't think you are serious about winning power for Labour."

The debate also saw Mr Corbyn and Mr Smith go head-to-head over Brexit.
Mr Corbyn said the UK should "aspire" to join the single market after officially withdrawing from the European Union.
But Mr Smith, the MP for Pontypridd, said he would refuse to trigger Article 50 if he became Prime Minister tomorrow.
The pair also clashed over Smith's bid for a second EU referendum
He said: "I would want to make sure that we had clarity about the terms of the Brexit deal, because we don't what Brexit means.
"We don't know if it means we will have security for workers, we don't know if it means we will have less money for our public services.
"I want to get to the bottom of that. We need to know what Brexit means before we take that final step and depart the European Union."
Corbyn's team accidentally issued a list of 'abusive' MPs tonight
Moments before the showdown, Mr Corbyn's campaign team mistakenly issued a list of Labour MPs who have allegedly "abused" the leader and his allies.
Among the 13 names on the "hit list" are deputy leader Tom Watson, who branded the pro-Corbyn campaign group Momentum a "rabble".
Birmingham Yardley MP Jess Phillips also makes an appearance – for allegedly telling shadow health secretary Diane Abbott to "f*** off".
